Lassie - Border Collie - Looking For A Quiet Area To Live And A Family To Love Her in Kensington, Merseyside for sale

Lassie - Border Collie - Looking For A Quiet Area To

Lassie will be 10 years old in December 2016 and is having a difficult time readjusting to a move to central and noisy Liverpool after living the first 9 years of her life in the suburbs. Her owner passed away over a year ago forcing Lassie to move from a spacious home with it's own front and rear garden in a quiet area to a central liverpool 2nd floor, 1 bed flat with no garden for her to run free in. Although Lassie has always been nervous when in open spaces and hearing loud noises she used to look forward to going on walks and loved running free on the fields where she lived. Because she now lives of one of Liverpool's main roads she finds it very difficult to go out during the day and evening due to constant noise from the traffic and everyday loud noises. She will go out very late at night between 1am-5am but that is not practical for any owner. She can be encouraged to go out on a walk if she is wearing her harness and even though i live 2 minutes from a big park it is very difficult to get her there as she has to walk along very busy road. Over time living in a busy city and not being able to go on nice quiet walks she has become quite nervous. Due to her current home she has put on some weight due to not getting enough exercise. Lassie used to spend most of her day in the garden, unattended, running about but now she has a small side garden where she has to be accompanied at all times which is not ideal because I cannot spend most of my day in the garden due to everyday activities/responsibilities. Lassie is a very smart dog and learns new routines very quickly. She is very happy spending time alone playing in a garden and can be left alone at home for a few hours with no problems. She does not destroy furniture and is fully house trained. She usually goes to the toilet in her own garden space and not on the pavement in the streets. Because Lassie spent most of her life with one elderly man and had a very consistent routine she does not need a lot of attention, just a little pet and she is happy. When arriving home she's not the kind of dog to make a fuss she will wait for you to greet her. Over the past year she has lived with me she has grown to love being petted and pampered she especially loves the hair dryer. As far as other animals are concerned she can take or leave other dogs but can be playful when in the mood. She is not aggressive but also has no problem telling a dog when she is not interested. Lassie has been around guinea pigs, and does not mind cats. When out walking she can get very excited when seeing a cat but is not to bothered when sharing a home. She can also live with quieter dogs. Lassie will be an ideal dog for families with children 7+. Due to being older she does not like to be overly handled, she will play tug-of-war with toys but she also enjoys her peace in her bed. The main problem with Lassie is her eating habits, with other dogs she will eat easier but by herself she is very fussy with what she will and will not eat. It can take a bit of time for her to settle and be comfortable eating. Lassie has suffered psychologically since moving into the city, she has gained some weight but her general health is very good, the only concern is tartar on her teeth due to general ageing. She is fully neutered/vaccinated and is soon to be microchipped. For a smart dog Lassie has found being cooped up very difficult and just wants to play tug-of-war or chase bubbles. She will play indoors and loves throwing teddies and soft toys around, she also preferred to have a selection of toys. As long as Lassie has space to run around in a quiet area she will be ideal for a single person, a couple, or a family with older children. She is quiet in the home but when out in a garden she loves nothing more than to bark and watch the birds. She will dig certain parts of the garden given the chance as she loves to bury her bones and treats to retrieve another day. She has been given 15 months to settle but unfortunately this is not the area for Lassie to be happy and now that Bonfire Night is here again Lassie is suffering random fireworks even though it is still several weeks away. I want to view any home that is offered to Lassie as over this year I have grown to know her very well. She has grown close to me and I will miss her but after seeing the difference in her wellbeing after she stays with either of my sisters who have back gardens I know that the most important thing for Lassie is the location she lives in as she will be able to adjust to new people easier than she has to the area I live in. I want anyone who is interested in Lassie to be willing to go for walks with Lassie and I and to spend some time with her over several weeks so that they feel she is the right dog for them. Also i will want regular updates on how things are going if someone chooses to take her home and would be willing to take her back if things did not work out. She has not used a bed since living here but used to have one in her other home. She can take anything the new owners would like of hers such as bowls, lead etc and can take an assortment of toys for her to settle in with. I will also provide several days worth of food/treats for her to take that I know she likes to eat.
